Discover the stories and traditions of days gone by at De Locht. The museum exudes the atmosphere of a small, traditional North Limburg village. A museum village brimming with stories about how people lived in the countryside, as well as what clothes they wore, what they ate, and how their food was grown and prepared. Come rain or shine, there is always plenty to do and discover at De Locht.

De Locht is situated in Melderslo, North Limburg, and comprises some twenty buildings and gardens spread across a site of over three hectares. Discover what life was like on a medieval farm. Take a look inside the fully furnished 19th-century farmhouse, visit the textile pavilion, the smithy, the syrup factory and much more. There is too much to mention.

Get to know the North Limburg agricultural sector.

The museum establishes a link not only with the past, but also with the present. You’ll find everything there is to know about growing mushrooms and asparagus. They also keep a close eye on developments in greenhouse horticulture, from flat-glass greenhouses to today’s high-tech greenhouses featuring the very latest cultivation methods. Visit the gardens, the herb garden, the soft fruit, flax and forgotten vegetable plots, and enjoy the splendour of the flowers.

Fun and educational for young and old

There are regular demonstrations of traditional crafts, the auction clock is in action, syrup is made and delicious bread rolls are baked. De Locht is fun and educational for young and old alike. For children, there is a (digital) treasure hunt, traditional Dutch games, and regular activities organised for children. And did you know you can also visit De Locht from home? De Locht is the first museum in the world to have been recreated in ROBLOX.

The museum is run entirely by volunteers. Come and enjoy a warm welcome and a surprise at Museumdorp de Locht! Visit www.delocht.nl for up-to-date information on our activities, opening hours, exhibitions and children’s activities.
